Unit of measure mapping
Purpose
When sender and receiver use different units of measure for the same item, the mapping makes sure quantities are transferred consistently and converted correctly. This page describes how to create and use UoM mappings.
Business value
- Quantities and prices stay consistent despite differing units of measure.
- Manual conversions at the receiver are no longer needed.
- The classic “forgotten conversion” error is removed by stored factors.
Focus areas
Creating a mapping row
On the U. of Measure Mappings page, create one row per combination: source UoM in the sending company, target UoM in the receiving company, and the conversion factor.
Effect during exchange
On export the source quantity is multiplied or divided so that the target line carries the correct quantity in the target UoM. The mapping run is deterministic and is logged.
Typical examples
- 1 Box (source) → 12 Pieces (target), factor 12
- 1 Pallet (source) → 48 Carton (target), factor 48
Outcome
- Documents arrive at the partner with the correct quantity and UoM.
- Downstream processes (warehouse, invoicing) keep running without manual adjustment.
