FAQ

Frequently asked questions and common issue patterns for BE-Commerce in the Commerce Interface context.
FAQ Where should you start before the first productive go-live? Start with setup, master data, and one complete test run for the most important business transactions.

Start with Setup and verify that webshop channels, language and country assignments, and the main control values are maintained completely.

Then continue with Master Data so that categories, attributes, translations, and channel-related mappings are available. After that, test at least one complete process such as item release, sales order creation, or return processing.

If you want to understand the business context better, also use Reference Processes.

FAQ What should you check if import or export does not behave as expected? First review setup, master data, and the affected business process before moving into the technical drill-down.

First check whether the affected channel is set up completely and whether the required master data exists. In many cases, the root cause is a missing mapping, an unmaintained mandatory value, or an incomplete release basis.

Then review the business flow of the affected transaction, for example Sales Order Creation, Sales Return Order Creation, or Reservation.

Only if these points are business-wise plausible should you move on to Import Interfaces, Export Interfaces, and the technical Interfaces.

FAQ Why can an item or contact not be processed as expected? In most cases, mandatory data, channel-related mappings, or the release logic are still incomplete from a business perspective.

First verify that the required master data is fully maintained. This includes channel-related values, categories, attributes, translations, and other mandatory fields that are relevant for release or handover.

Then check whether the affected process has already reached the correct business status. For items, Item Releasing is usually relevant. For contacts, continue with Contact Creation and Update.

If similar issues recur, compare the cases with the rules in Setup and Master Data.

FAQ What should you do if inventory, prices, or translations do not look current in the shop? First review the business maintenance and then verify whether the relevant changes were prepared correctly for handover.

First check the affected master data in the module, for example item information, translations, pricing logic, or channel-related mappings. Quite often the cause is not the technical transfer itself, but incomplete business maintenance.

Then review the Change Log to see whether the relevant changes were already considered for the shop.

If you need to understand the process flow better, also use Reference Processes.

FAQ When should you use reference processes and when the technical interface pages? Reference processes help with business context, while technical interface pages support deeper analysis of data exchange and handover points.

Use Reference Processes when you want to understand how setup, master data maintenance, import, processing, and export work together.

Switch to the technical Interfaces when you need to inspect a handover point, an interface type, or a technical detail. For new end users, the reference processes are usually the better first entry point.
