DPD
Purpose
This page describes the DPD-specific setup in Shipping Labels. The DPD setup is comparatively compact and focuses on service type, credentials, URL assignment, and the package limits that the request must respect.
Prerequisites
- The shared Shipping Labels setup is complete.
- DPD credentials and the correct test or productive URL are available.
- The intended DPD service is known.
- Item or fallback package weight is available for the request scenario.
Recommended sequence
- Assign the DPD shipping agent service in the shared setup.
- Maintain username, password, and URL.
- Select the DPD service and maintain package limits.
- Validate one realistic request with complete package data.
Setup components
Maintain credentials and environment URL
DPD requires a straightforward credential setup with the correct environment URL. Keep test and productive values separate and validate each environment independently.
Maintain service and package limits
The carrier setup should include the chosen DPD service as well as the maximum package length, maximum package weight, maximum girth, and fallback package weight.
These values should be aligned with the actual DPD service agreement. If the request exceeds those limits, the setup may look correct in Business Central while the carrier still rejects the request.
Prefer item-driven package weight
If item weight is maintained on the item, it overrides the fallback package weight on the DPD setup. Use the fallback only as a controlled backup.
Process Important DPD notes DPD setup is short, but the package limits and weight source still matter.
- Keep the selected DPD service aligned with the intended business scenario.
- Maintain maximum length, maximum girth, and maximum package weight consistently.
- Use item weight where possible and fallback weight only as a backup.
- Validate test and productive URLs separately.
