Overview

Overview of NOS Disposition Planning in BE-terna Fashion: planning document, matrix, size keys, and shortfall analysis for NOS items.

Purpose

NOS Dispo is the replenishment planning module for NOS (Never-Out-of-Stock) items in BE-terna Fashion. It allows buyers to determine planned order quantities for colour-based staple items by period, detect shortfalls early, and keep the replenishment plan up to date automatically after release.

Business Value

  • Combines reference sales, depot quantities, corrections, and a planning factor in a single planning matrix.
  • Automatically identifies colours and periods where the projected closing inventory becomes negative (shortfall).
  • Preserves manually set corrections and planned order quantities when a released document is automatically rebuilt.
  • Supports two planning granularities: by variant (colour and size) or aggregated by colour.
  • Distributes planned colour quantities to variants using NOS size keys.

Planning Document and Structure

Each Dispo NOS document describes a planning period for one or more NOS items and optionally a vendor. The document header holds the planning type, period type (week, decade, or month), the number of periods before and after the work date, and item and colour filters.

The document has three statuses:

Status Meaning
Open The document can be edited.
Released The document is picked up by the automatic refresh job and rebuilt with each run, while manual values are retained.
Closed The document is complete and will no longer be updated.

Planning Matrix

The planning matrix shows planning lines for each NOS colour (or variant) across the configured periods. Each row represents one of the following row types:

Row type Meaning
Hist Historical sales as reference
Depot Depot quantities as planning basis
Correction Manual correction quantity
Base Sum of Hist + Depot + Correction
Sales Order Open sales order quantities
Plan Planned sales quantity (Base × Planning Factor)
Plan Order Manually entered planned order quantity
Purch. Order Open purchase order quantities from the system
Start Inv. Inventory at the beginning of the period
Clos. Inv. Projected closing inventory (Start Inv. + Receipts − Plan)

A negative closing inventory row signals a shortfall for that colour and period.

Planning Types and Period Types

Setting Values
Planning Type Item Variant, Item Colour
Period Type Week, Decade, Month

With Item Variant, each size-colour combination is planned individually. With Item Colour, all variants of a colour are consolidated, and the quantity distribution to variants is handled later via an NOS size key.

NOS Size Keys

An NOS size key defines distribution shares per size within a size run group. It is assigned to a planning document and determines how planned colour quantities are split across variants.

Shortfall Analysis

The system checks for each colour whether the projected closing inventory becomes negative within a configurable number of coverage periods. When a shortfall is detected, Has Shortfall is set in the document header. Colours without shortfalls can optionally be hidden in the matrix using Hide Covered Colours.
