Administration
Purpose
Administration of worker time registration covers ongoing maintenance of worker master data, authentication, filters, and correction processes. It is separate from general Manufacturing administration because it directly controls the terminal workflow and the later reporting into the output journal.
Ongoing Control Areas
| Area | Administrative check |
|---|---|
| Role | Verify that terminals or users work with the BE-Manufacturing Worker role center. |
| Worker master data | Keep unique No., name, department, cost center, and relevant master data up to date. |
| Authentication | Align Worker Authentication Type in Manufacturing Setup with password or PIN maintenance on the worker. |
| PIN | Ensure PIN uniqueness, especially in barcode or RFID scenarios. |
| Filters | Review filters for Work Center Group, Work Center, and Department regularly. |
| Dimensions | Review default dimensions and transfer into the journal when cost centers or analysis are affected. |
| Posting review | Check transferred time registrations in the output journal before final posting. |
Control Typical Corrections
Errors during registration should be corrected before transfer into the journal whenever possible:
- If the wrong operation was started, use Cancel Time Registration.
- If the wrong line was stopped, use Undo Stop Time.
- If starting or ending time is wrong, correct the time on the time registration entry.
- If only the duration must be corrected, adjust Quantity.
- If location or bin is wrong, correct these values before transfer.
- If a last operation with item tracking is posted, check consistency between Finished Quantity and item tracking lines.
Check Common Issues
| Issue | Check |
|---|---|
| Worker cannot sign in | Check Worker Authentication Type in Manufacturing Setup, password/PIN on the worker, and unique worker number. |
| No operations are visible | Check production order status Released and filters on the worker. |
| Unexpected operations are visible | Check manually changed filters on the Time Registration page; note red highlighting. |
| Worker assumes the entry was already posted | Clarify whether the time registration was only transferred into the output journal or actually posted there. |
| Posting with item tracking fails | Check finished quantity and item tracking lines on the time registration entry. |
Define Responsibilities
Define organizationally who is responsible for:
- creating new workers,
- maintaining passwords or PINs,
- changing filter criteria,
- correcting incorrect time registrations,
- reviewing entries in the output journal,
- running the final posting step.
The old functional description assumes that workers can transfer the registration, while final posting is usually reviewed and performed by a team leader or responsible role.
Result
With clear role, authentication, filter, and posting responsibilities, worker time registration remains reliable and incorrect entries can be corrected before final posting.
