The goods receipt journal process describes the activities for the physical receipt of goods on the inbound area by logistics. It provides information about the goods shipments accepted in the warehouse and starts the logistics processes around goods receipt and quality assurance. In addition to goods shipments from vendors, returns and other shipments in the form of documents and samples can also be accepted.

WRB-0010 - Physical goods receipt

The warehouse employee accepts the shipment from the carrier or freight forwarder and takes over the associated papers. The goods are unloaded and placed on the goods receipt area for counting and receipt. Document or sample shipments are made available on the corresponding transfer area for the recipient in the building after the goods receipt journal has been captured.

Incoming process:

WRB-0020 - Perform capture

The GR journal is created and the details of the goods shipment are entered, such as vendor, source document, carrier, packaging unit and quantity, as well as the package number (tracking ID for individual shipments). An initial note on the condition of the shipment can be entered in the form of a comment. The recipient in the building can be notified from the goods receipt journal.

WRB-0030 - Complete capture

The GR journal entry is completed and the goods receipt process can be started. The shipment is considered received.
