This process describes the definition and management of measurement charts. The specified measurements per measurement point and size are managed in the measurement charts. Measurement charts are used for communication between product development, producer, and quality management. Measurement charts can be managed in different versions and created from templates. A measurement chart always applies to one size system (size range) of an item.

MPD-0010 Select model

In the “Models” view, the model is selected for which a measurement chart is to be created or edited.

MPD-0020 Create measurement chart

For an existing model, a new measurement chart can be created. Measurement charts receive a unique identifier at the level of the size ranges. Multiple measurement charts for the same size range are distinguished from one another by version numbers. This is especially necessary if the measurement chart is updated over time through the sampling process, or if it is a repeat item that is now being procured from another producer.

MPD-0030 Assign template

In the measurement chart header, a template is selected. With the help of this template, all jump points or measurement paths predefined by design are transferred into the model’s measurement chart lines. The size to be measured is also taken over from the template. For each measurement path and size not to be captured, the grading values (surcharges and discounts) are taken over in comparison to the size to be captured.

MPD-0040 Edit measurement points

The measurement points from the template can be edited. Measurement paths from the transferred template that are not relevant for the current model can be deleted or added. The measurements for the reference size are then entered. The corresponding expected measured values for the other sizes result from the grading increments. A tolerance for the comparison measurement charts can be stored for each measurement point. Comparison measurement charts can be used, among other things, in the sampling process. Using the tolerance, the process-related measurement chart can be compared with the item’s base measurement chart.

MPD-0050 Release measurement chart

Once editing is complete, the measurement chart is released. Only released measurement charts can be used in subsequent processes.
