This process describes the capture of costings in PLM for an item.

Costings are used to calculate the item in advance of procurement or production with regard to procurement costs. It is also possible to carry out the costing up to the different sales prices and recommended sales prices.

In one costing, up to five variants can be calculated and compared at the same time. These comparative variants can cover the following topics:

  • Procurement from different vendors / producers
  • Use of different materials
  • Different item colors
  • Different countries of procurement
  • Different delivery conditions

Costing parameters such as surcharges with effects on the different costing levels and results can be maintained and adjusted individually. The process ends after the costing is released.

Follow-up processes are generally the procurement and sales price determination of the items, for which the costing provides a valuation basis. Likewise, the costing can serve as the basis for a target/actual comparison as part of a post-calculation.

CAL-0010 Create costing

A new costing is created for the item. By applying the costing template, the initial properties of the costing for this item are preassigned. This includes both header-related fields, such as season, use of production or costing BOM, comparative costing levels, as well as the costing lines that define the individual costing steps.

CAL-0020 Capture costing BOM

If a costing BOM is used according to the setup in the template or in the costing header, it must be filled. Otherwise, this step is omitted.

Any number of costing BOMs can be captured manually. The type can be used to distinguish between text, material, accessories, and so on.

CAL-0030 Obtain information

When a costing BOM is used, quantity and price are captured for each costing variant. The calculation of the initial values of the costing per variant is carried out automatically. Otherwise, the initial value per costing variant must be captured in the first costing line per variant. This forms the basis for all further costing lines.

CAL-0040 Enter surcharges

The surcharges, discounts, and values can be captured per costing line and calculation method. These can be manual or percentage surcharges and discounts. The values are calculated automatically per costing variant.

Manual values can also be captured according to the costing line per costing variant. As a result, the system calculates the costing completely automatically for all costing values.

These costing variants can then be used as comparative values.

CAL-0050 Save costing

By saving / releasing the costing, this costing can, analogous to documents in BC, be released for subsequent processes. Manual editing in this costing is then no longer possible.

A costing can be in preparation, active, or completed.
