Status Management

Purpose

Status management bundles enhancements that make production order status changes safer and more efficient. BE-terna Manufacturing provides overview pages, checks, and additional options so that users can review material, component consumption, operations, and open postings before releasing or finishing production orders.

Business Value

Planned and firm planned production orders can be checked for material availability before release.
Released production orders can be checked before finishing based on components, routing lines, picks, and capacity entries.
Status changes can be run for selected production orders and printed where required.
Several released production orders can be changed to Finished in a more controlled way, even when warnings about remaining quantities occur.
Predefined filters in production order control setup speed up work with large order volumes.

Check Firm Planned Production Orders Before Release

The Prod. Order Release Status for Firm Planned Prod. Orders page shows planned and firm planned production orders, their lines, and components in a structure. Required quantities and available inventory are calculated per component. If available inventory is lower than total requirement, the component is marked red. The parent production order line and production order header are also marked red.

Pending Consumption

Purpose

When output is posted or when subcontracted work is received, automatically consumed backward-flushed components need sufficient inventory. If inventory is missing, the standard process can abort. BE-terna Manufacturing can, for selected locations, consume the available inventory and register the missing quantity as Pending Consumption.

Pending consumption is therefore not lost. It remains visible on the production order and must be reposted or cancelled before the production order can be finished.

Item Tracking

Purpose

Item tracking in BE-terna Manufacturing extends the standard Business Central logic for production and assembly processes. Users can derive serial, lot, and package numbers automatically from number series, from the production or assembly order number, or from a main component. Production order lines can also be split by lot or serial number so that components, routings, reservations, picking, and item tracking remain traceable per partial quantity.

Business Value

Serial, lot, and package numbers can be proposed automatically.
A main component can transfer its tracking information to the output item.
Serial-tracked output items can be split automatically into several production order lines.
Lot-tracked output items can be separated into remaining lines after a partial output posting.
Component and output item tracking remain assignable per partial quantity.

Posting

Purpose

The posting functions in BE-terna Manufacturing support users in the Production Journal, Consumption Journal, and Output Journal. They calculate related output and consumption quantities automatically and suggest the matching application entries for corrections.

The goal is to enter consumption and output faster, more consistently, and with better costing transparency. Automatically suggested quantities and application entries can still be reviewed and adjusted manually before posting.

Business Value

Consumption and output can be handled together in the production journal.
Output quantity can be calculated from the consumption quantity of the main ingredient.
Consumption quantity can be calculated from the output quantity.
Run time is recalculated based on output quantity and routing.
For negative consumption or output quantities, BE-terna Manufacturing suggests matching application entries.

Rework

Purpose

Many companies have strict quality requirements for their items. If defects are found during or after production, an item often needs targeted rework. Standard Business Central does not model rework as a dedicated production process. BE-terna Manufacturing adds rework logic through Order Subtype, a rework routing, and functions for creating rework production orders.

Business Value

Rework can be represented with a dedicated routing.
The Order Subtype controls whether a production order is treated as rework.
When the production order is refreshed, the rework routing is transferred.
Rework orders can be created from sales orders, released production orders, and finished production orders.
A default order subtype for rework can be maintained in Manufacturing Setup.

Lists

Purpose

The Production Order lists give users a cross-order view of production orders, production order lines, routing lines, and components. They support daily control, analysis, follow-up questions, navigation into detail data, and recurring actions without opening each production order first.

BE-terna Manufacturing also provides a progress overview for released production orders and extended navigation through related item ledger entries. This helps users trace production progress, component usage, and value chains in the same working context.

Reports

Purpose

Reports in the Production Order area support operational and financial analysis. They structure production order information for shop floor papers, material and capacity lists, final costing, and WIP valuation.

BE-terna Manufacturing extends standard Business Central reports with additional columns, clearer grouping, and analysis across multiple production levels.

Business Value

Production orders can be printed with header, lines, routing lines, and components in a structured format.
Shop floor papers contain additional descriptions, quantities, units, times, and QR information.
Operation and material requirement lists can be sorted and filtered more precisely.
Final costing shows expected and actual costs across several production levels.
WIP reports can be reduced to relevant production orders through a threshold.

Prod. Order Printout BE arranges production order information in a structured way. It shows information from the production order header, production order lines, routing lines, and components.
