Item Versions

Purpose

Item versions support companies that need to know exactly which version of an item was approved and produced. This is especially important in areas such as mechanical engineering, where items are continuously developed and traceability is highly relevant.

BE-terna Manufacturing extends item data with an additional table for item versions. Versions can be historized, certified, maintained with details, and traced along the production process down to production order lines.

Item Attributes for Production Orders

Purpose

Item attributes add additional characteristics to items. These details can be important for production processes, but in the Business Central base application they are only available on the item card and item list. They are not available by default in the production area, for example on production orders or production order components.

BE-terna Manufacturing therefore provides the Item Attributes FactBox on several pages in the production area. Users can review the relevant item characteristics directly where they work with production orders, lines, components, or Manufacturing worksheets.

Item Category and Location Codes

Purpose

This function transfers location codes and the item category code from item master data into downstream manufacturing data. The Consumption Location Code can be transferred from the item card to production BOM lines, production order components, production journal lines, and planning components. The Output Location Code is used for output of the produced item in production orders and production journal lines.

Automatic defaulting is especially useful when production orders are often created manually or when several locations are managed by item. Location codes can still be changed manually if a specific process requires it.
