Purpose

For automatic requirement planning, BE-terna Manufacturing uses the Job Queue. The job queue starts one or more Planning Run Setup records. In these setup records, you define timing, target worksheet, and item filter criteria.

The planning run can then be calculated automatically, for example every night. The result is written to the configured planning worksheet.

Business Value

Recurring planning runs can be executed automatically at fixed times.
Several planning run setup records can represent different item groups, planning groups, or responsible users.
Worksheet template and journal batch name control where planning results are written.
Filters on item fields limit which items are planned.
Optionally, action messages can be carried out automatically to create production orders, assembly orders, purchase orders, or transfer orders.

Family Production Planning

Purpose

Family production planning helps you create production orders for item families directly from the planning worksheet. Item families let you plan and produce several items and different quantities within one production order.

Typical use cases are co-products, where several items are produced together, or tools where one operation produces more than one unit, for example cavities in injection molding tools.

Business Value

Families can be considered in the planning worksheet.
An action message can create a production order with Source Type = Family.
Several item lines are combined in one production order.
Shared routings can represent several items and quantities at the same time.
Users can still use item families manually through production orders.
