Cost Accounting

Cost accounting is a product that supports a company’s controller with extensive cost analyses. Cost accounting is a self-contained module. Profit and loss accounts are transferred automatically into cost accounting. In addition, extra postings can be created independently of financial accounting postings and processed further through allocations.

Cost type chart

Since financial accounting is the source of data for costs equivalent to expenses, in many cases it makes sense to use general ledger accounts as the basis for the cost type chart. The general ledger accounts can be transferred into the cost type chart using a transfer function. During automatic creation, the cost types are linked directly to the general ledger accounts. In manual creation, the assignment lies with the respective user. Only one cost type can be assigned to a general ledger account. Several general ledger accounts can be assigned to one cost type. A general ledger account does not have to be assigned to a cost type.

Cost center accounting

In the cost type chart, a distinction is also made between primary and secondary cost types. Primary costs are the costs equivalent to expenses that can be transferred from financial accounting. After the transfer of the general ledger accounts from financial accounting, the cost type chart usually contains only primary cost types. The secondary cost types still have to be created. Secondary costs arise through the allocation of costs from one cost center to another.

Power BI Desktop/Power BI Services - Microsoft

Power BI Desktop is a free Microsoft product that enables the modeling and creation of interactive reports within moments. A direct connection to Business Central or to many other data sources, such as Excel or SharePoint, can be established. With functions such as quick measures, groupings, forecasts, clustering, or the DAX formula language, the data is analyzed in the best possible way. A pool of hundreds of visualizations is available for clear presentation of the data.
